Analytics

Google Analytics tells us which pages get read, roughly where readers arrive from, and which features get used: searching, Near Me, filters, and taps through to a bar. It never receives your name, your email, or anything you save or write.

It sets its own cookies, and Google receives your IP address as part of that. We have advertising features and ad personalization turned off, so what we send is not used to build an advertising profile of you.

What you type into the search box is counted here rather than sent to Google. We keep the words and nothing else. No account, no address, nothing tying a search to a person, because knowing that forty people searched for a town we do not cover yet is how we decide which city to open next.

Any browser setting or extension that blocks it works here, and nothing on this site needs it to run. If you would rather it did not, Google publishes an opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

What we never collect

We do not ask for your name, phone number or payment details, because nothing here needs them. We do not run advertising. Browsing and searching never involve telling us who you are.

Your account

Signing in is optional and only needed to contribute or to save a bar. When you do, Google tells us the email address on that account, and we keep it along with a display name and the avatar picture they provide. That is the entire account - there is no password of ours, and nothing else about you is stored beside it.

Delete it whenever you like, from the account menu. Your saved bars, notes and rankings go with it. Bars you submitted and reports you sent stay, with your name taken off them.

What your browser stores

Two small values, kept in your browser. They never leave your device, and clearing your browser data removes both:

• Your last search position. Only if you use Near Me, and only for 24 hours, so the next visit does not have to ask again.
• A form you had started. If adding a bar sends you to sign in first, what you had typed is held for the trip so you do not retype it. It lasts half an hour, and only in that tab.

Saved bars

Saving a bar needs an account, and the list is kept with that account rather than in this browser, so it is the same list on your phone as on your laptop. Until 14 August 2026 it lived only in local storage; anything that was still sitting there is moved across the next time you sign in, and then removed from the browser.

How many people have saved a bar counts toward where it appears in the list. Nothing about who saved it leaves your account, and saves never affect a bar’s rating.

Your rankings

Ranking a bar is stored on our servers and attached to you. A ranking keeps the bar and where you placed it against the others you have ranked, and nothing else. There is no writing in it. It is tied to your account so that your ladder is still there on your next visit and on another device.

What leaves your account is arithmetic: a bar’s public score uses the average position everyone who ranked it gave it, and how many people that was. Nothing that identifies you is part of it. Remove a ranking from My Rankings and it stops counting toward that bar.

Your notes

Notes are never published. A note is kept against your account and the bar it is about, read back to you and to nobody else. It is not part of any score, it is never counted, and nobody else can read it. Notes are separate from rankings: you can write one on a bar you have never ranked, and removing a ranking does not touch the note. Clearing the box deletes it.

Location

Your location is requested only when you press Near Me, and your browser asks permission before we see anything. The coordinates are sent to our database to find bars within a radius, and cached on your device as described above. They are not attached to an identity, because there is no identity to attach them to.

What we count

When you tap Directions or Call, we record that somebody did, which bar it was, and when. That is the entire record. It is not attached to you, to your account or to your device, and that is true whether you are signed in or not. There is nowhere in it for a name to go.

We count it because a bar deserves to know how many people set off for it, and because that is the number worth something to them. That count is ours: it is written to our own database, and it is not what we send to Google Analytics.

What you send us

If you report a change to a listing, we store your answers, filed under your account. Reporting needs one: a report is a claim about a real room, and an account is what lets us weigh a second report from the same person differently from two reports from two people. Saving a bar and submitting one we are missing need an account for the same reason, and a submission is stored with your account’s email address as its signature and audit trail. Signing in never asks for a password of ours; Google vouches for the address instead.

Signing in alone never puts you on a mailing list. Marketing email about prize draws, tournaments and announcements goes only to addresses that have separately opted in, and every such email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Services we rely on

Running a website means other companies handle traffic on our behalf. Each of these has its own privacy policy:

• Supabase hosts our list of bars and receives the submissions described above.
• Google Cloud (Firebase App Hosting) serves the site. Like any web server, it records standard request logs, which include IP addresses.
• CARTO and OpenStreetMap serve the map imagery. Loading map tiles means their servers see your IP address, the same as any image on any page.

Children

This is a directory of licensed premises and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Your choices

You can clear everything this site keeps on your device by clearing your browser data for this domain, and you can refuse or revoke location access in your browser settings at any time. Any ranking can be removed from My Rankings, which takes it out of that bar’s score, and clearing a note’s box deletes the note. If you have signed a report with your email and want that address removed, want your account and its rankings deleted, or want to know what is attached to it, write to us at the address below and we will handle it. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time from any email we send.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes to what we collect will be described here rather than quietly folded in.
